Spirit Guardians in NY and the United Nations
Guardian for international peace and security at UN Headquarters
A new alebrije/statue/idol/effigy dubbed the guardian for international peace and security has been placed at the Visitors Plaza outside UN HQ.
Alebrijes are colored Oaxacan-Mexican folk art sculptures of mythical or spirit creatures. The spirit “guardian” is donated by the Government of Oaxaca, Mexico, and created by Jacobo and Maria Angeles November 09, 2021. Alebrijes are usually connected to the day and spirit of death. One article noted the following…
“Those who want to connect with the spirit of Día de los Muertos in New York City can now visit Rockefeller Center.”
“Flanking the entrance to the famous skyscraper at 30 Rockefeller Plaza are two catrinas, skeleton figures representing the Aztec goddess Mictecacihuatl, by Menchaca Studio. The elegant skulls donning floral hats are perhaps the most recognizable symbols of Day of the Dead.”
The spirit of Día de los Muertos is the spirit of death. Death is not synonymous with life as some would have us believe. There are two trees, one stands for life and another for death. Death is an enemy as per the following scripture.
1Co 15:26 (KJV) The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.
Honestly, I am not feeling the peace and security vibe from this piece. The vibe is more like anger, forcing compliance, crushing dissenting opinions, tyranny, etc. Not too long ago, peace and security were pursued through diplomacy and dialogue—multilateralism and democracy. The previous statue that represented peace was a gun tied in a knot so it can no longer be used to harm.
However, since 2019, it seems these qualities are being eroded and replaced with more tyrannical methods in the guise of science-mandated draconian measures which have trampled upon the human rights of many citizens across the globe greatly.
This new statue/idol/alebrije communicates overaggressiveness, forced compliance, unwillingness to dialogue, and censoring alternative opinions. It communicates fear, terror, and all that is anti-peace, as we have been seeing manifested in many nations since 2019. In short, it communicates death and not life.
This new statue/idol/alebrije does not in any way communicate peace and security through dialogue, diplomacy, or the exercise of democratic values.
Since its showcasing by the United Nations, it has stirred up debates and speculations on the internet. When the UN shared it on Twitter, some folks on social media wondered if this image has anything to do with the following prophetic revelations below.
Rev 13:1-7 (AMPC
1 [AS] I stood on the sandy beach, I saw a beast coming up out of the sea with ten horns and seven heads. On his horns he had ten royal crowns (diadems) and blasphemous titles (names) on his heads.
2 And the beast that I saw resembled a leopard, but his feet were like those of a bear and his mouth was like that of a lion. And to him the dragon gave his [own] might and power and his [own] throne and great dominion.
6 And he opened his mouth to speak slanders against God, blaspheming His name and His abode, [even vilifying] those who live in heaven.
7 He was further permitted to wage war on God's holy people (the saints) and to overcome them. And power was given him to extend his authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation, [Dan 7:21, Dan 7:25]
Dan 7:6 (KJV) After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.
Whether you believe the statue reflects these scriptures accurately or not, I tend to side with Pastor Chris Oyakhilome and any others who do not believe it’s time for these prophecies to be fulfilled especially Rev 13. While the nature or spirit of the antichrist has been around for some time—and was even around in the days of Apostle John as seen in the scriptures below, it is not yet time for the beast itself to be released to wreak havoc on earth. It has to wait for the time appointed.
1Jn 2:18-22 (KJV)
18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
1Jn 4:3-6 (KJV)
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
2Jn 1:7-8 (KJV)
7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
Those carrying the nature of the spirit of the antichrist as per Apostle John have been in the world for some time. It has always been Christ versus anti-Christ. Christ(ians) versus adherents of anti-Christ or antichristians.
The beast or spirit will be released at a specific time but its time is not yet because scripture reveals as much. However, it would seem that its adherents are trying to push for its manifestation before the time appointed—and this push has gained some momentum since 2019.
But this will not work. Why? because of the true Ecclesia.
What scripture reveals is that the Ecclesia (true Christ[ians]) must first finish its work of taking the Gospel into the whole world and making available to all men, women, and children, peace, salvation, justification from spiritual death, and eternal damnation.
Only when the Ecclesia’s job is done will it be taken out (caught up, raptured out) of the way so that evil (the mystery of iniquity or lawlessness) can be unleashed on the earth.
2Th 2:7 (AMPC) For the mystery of lawlessness (that hidden principle of rebellion against constituted authority) is already at work in the world, [but it is] restrained only until he who restrains is taken out of the way.
He who restrains is Christ. The head of Christ is Jesus in heaven but his body, members, limbs, bones are his Ecclesia—the body of Christ.
Eph 5:30 (KJV) For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
The Ecclesia should therefore restrain this surge of iniquity with prayer and not allow it any further. Believer in Christ, God has considered you worthy to see and live in this time and dispensation. It is an honor and privilege. It means He knows you can do his bidding. He has even given you his armour to assist you:
Eph 6:13-14 (AMPC)
13 Therefore put on God's complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place].
14 Stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the belt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplate of integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God,
Therefore, put on the whole armour of God, stand firm and fight the good fight of faith. As you wage the spiritual war, always remember that your enemy is not your fellow man but the spirit beings that use them.
“For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.” (Eph 6:12, AMPC)
Your fellow human is not your enemy but rather the spirits that use them.
These are our opponents. The Good News is that you should not fear anything. Why? The scripture shows that Jesus has already overcome all of these spirits and their boss so we simply walk in the finished works of Jesus in Christ, fearing nothing.
Eph 2:10 (AMPC) For we are God's [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].
Eph 3:10 (AMPC) [The purpose is] that through the church the complicated, many-sided wisdom of God in all its infinite variety and innumerable aspects might now be made known to the angelic rulers and authorities (principalities and powers) in the heavenly sphere.
If in doubt about the spiritual connection between the sculptures and death, watch this video and read the following articles below.
There are multiple spirit sculptures sent to NY, one of a dragon and the other of the beast shown above. Others include spirits of death or catrinas and were showcased at 30 Rockefeller. Read the following articles:

Día de los Muertos Comes to NYC With a Dazzling Display of Mexican Folk Art
Sculptures of Oaxacan alebrijes, envisioned as guardians of the nation’s immigrant community, and catrinas, Day of the Dead skeletons, are now at Rockefeller Center.
by Valentina Di Liscia October 22, 2021
Originating thousands of years ago among the Aztec, Toltec, and other Nahua people, Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a joyful celebration of life and death. During the first two days of November, participants create ofrendas — altars in private homes or cemeteries featuring offerings, food, family photographs, and candles to invite the souls of the dead back to the material world. Though coinciding with “spooky season” in the US, the tradition differs vastly from Halloween in its life-affirming tone and its rejection of death as a finality.
Those who want to connect with the spirit of Día de los Muertos in New York City can now visit Rockefeller Center, where a presentation of dazzling Mexican folk art will be on view starting today, October 22, through November 2. Works by Atelier Jacobo and María Angeles in Oaxaca and by Menchaca Studio, a Mexico City-based organization specializing in Huichol art and crafts, will lure city dwellers both living and incorporeal.
In the Manhattan landmark’s Center Plaza, Angeles Atelier presents two towering alebrijes, vibrantly-colored sculptures of animals and mythical creatures meant to serve as spiritual guides: an 11-foot dragon and a 13.5-foot feathered jaguar, both rendered in fiberglass. The first alebrijes were created in the early 1930s by Pedro Linares, an Indigenous Mexican artist, using papier mâché; in the southern state of Oaxaca, artists have continued the tradition in the medium of carved and painted wood.
The founders of Angeles Atelier, María and Jacobo, attended an unveiling ceremony today along with son and principal designer Ricardo Angeles. In an interview with Hyperallergic, the artist described his alebrijes as “guardians” for the nation’s immigrants.
“I love New York and its architecture, especially the Art Nouveau styles and the gargoyles of some buildings,” Angeles said. “I decided to create fantastical beings that also symbolized empathy and solidarity from us, the artisans who didn’t immigrate, toward our family members who are here in the United States.”
“We wanted to give them these guides to look over them, to let them know they are not alone. That’s why we included designs related to netting or frontiers, to reference the [Mexico-US] border,” he added, pointing to the dragon’s legs, which are decorated in a gray fence-like pattern.
“It’s very much a symbol of the present, mixed with my family’s very traditional symbolism,” Angeles continued.
Flanking the entrance to the famous skyscraper at 30 Rockefeller Plaza are two catrinas, skeleton figures representing the Aztec goddess Mictecacihuatl, by Menchaca Studio. The elegant skulls donning floral hats are perhaps the most recognizable symbols of Day of the Dead, inspiring the distinctive make-up, elaborate costumes, and even the pan de muerto (“bread of the dead”) found on many altars during the festivities.
“As a Oaxaqueña, I’m also Mixteca. I came here when I was 18 years old, and I think art plays an important role in activism” said Teresa Vivar, director of Lazos America Unida, a New Jersey nonprofit advocating for the Mexican American community. “It’s important to maintain our roots. Arts and culture is a way of educating the next generation and the people around us.”
Next Friday, October 29, the plaza’s iconic bronze statue of the Greek titan Atlas will be adorned with a floral installation by the New York-based flower design shop Ovando. As part of the weeklong art series, organized by the Consulate General of Mexico in collaboration with the Rockefeller Center, an open-air tianguis market will run next Friday through Sunday, October 31, showcasing the work of Mexican artisans and purveyors La Contenta, La Newyorkina, La Providencia, South Philly Barbacoa, Casa Dragones, and others.
A traditional ofrenda designed by Tónico Visual and artist Sandra Perez, replete with authentic Mexican handcrafts, will also join the sculptures to commemorate and honor the lives of those who passed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“In our country we have earned the recognition of our people by seeing Oaxaca as the reflection of the soul of Mexico,” said the state’s governor, Alejandro Murat Hinojosa, during today’s ceremony. “Because Oaxaca reflects the richness of our culture, our art, our history. But in another way, Oaxaca has its own soul: it has 16 Indigenous people, more than 102 dialects, and it is one of the most biodiverse states in Mexico and in the world.”
“When you think of the alebrijes, you think of the Zapotec cultures, which said before they existed in their physical form, they represented the nagual, the spirit inside of us, the purpose of life,” he continued. “By being here today with the alebrijes, we confirm our purpose.”
